I'll confess... I 'one-clicked' on a whim, not having ever read anything by this author and having never heard about this book before, but I'm so glad I did!
Gage MacPherson, NHL superstar is sex on legs who has an accessory wrapped around his leg which would make ovaries burst... his adorable daughter Lettie. But he's closed off his heart to everyone but his Princess.

I enjoyed the majority of this book. There was one thing about Gage that I absolutely hated.
This was a first time author for me. I’m currently on a “hockey book kickâ€. So I gave this one a shot.
Overall I enjoyed the story. Bailey and Gage’s story is a childhood friend to lovers romance.
They have always had feelings for each other. But when Gage’s ex walks out on him and their two year old daughter, he shuts down his heart to any and all relationships.
Bailey is fresh from college, not sure which direction her life is going. When her and Gage’s mothers decide she would be the perfect nanny for little Lettie, she moves and and things start to get real. Emotions take over, feelings get involved. And soon they’ve crossed that line that they both swore to never cross.
Bailey wants it all, love, marriage more children. Gage is willing to try. He’s willing to give her most of what she wants, but he’s always waiting for the next shoe to drop. For the next woman to walk out of his and Lettie’s lives.
Gage was a great dad. Everything he did was for his daughter. He was very sweet with her.
I liked Bailey. She loved Lettie, and considered Gage one of her best friends. She put up with his parade of one night stands with a forced smile, and a broken heart.
Lettie was absolutely adorable. Very bright, engaging. Not sure her written vocabulary matched what a three year old would be using, but cute none the less.
What I hated.
Gage’s parade of one night stands. Yes, I know most alpha males are players, man whores if you like. I get that. What really bothered me is the parade continuing after the two main characters meet. Even if they are not “together†yet, a little restraint is usually showed. But he had no problem trying to get the thought of sleeping with Bailey out of his system by sleeping with half the women of Seattle. And then leaving Bailey to deal with them in the morning. While his three year old was having breakfast in the same room. I almost dnf’ed at that point. Not cool.
Once he dumped the parade, I liked him much better, and enjoyed the rest of their story. - I like sexy, growly hockey players who also happen to be kickass dads. Buuuut, I'm not sure how I feel about Gage taking his hookups home for some one on one time while his daughter was in the house. Especially considering there was zero chance he was planning on seeing said hookups again. That's a recipe for disaster, hunky hockey dude. A recipe for disaster.
Fortunately for Gage, he escaped any issues with that. Mostly because Bailey took care of things. Which makes her a-okay in my book. Come to think of it, once Gage realized he had feeeeeeelings for Bailey, she was a-okay in his book, too. And I, who am mortally opposed to keeping big secrets in books, actually didn't mind the one he kept. I could see where he was coming from. He was actually very upfront about everything, just not in the way Bailey thought.
That said, I also got Bailey's hurt. If someone took away even the hope of ever achieving a dream, it's easy to see how deeply that could cut.
Bottom line Sexy, growly hockey players do it for me. Especially when they're also awesome dads who find their match in a big-hearted, determined lady.

When does book 2 come out? - I stumbled upon this book and saw that it was a series. Of course, after I read this book I was HOOKED. Of course the whole series of books can be read independently and you will not be out of the loop, BUT this series is focused around a group of friends and their beloved hockey team.
This book is focused around Gage and Bailey. Gage is a single dad, whose ex walked out on him and their little girl who happens to be cutest little girl in the world. Bailey and Gage have been best friends since they were kids, and have only truly been apart during their college years. Bailey is helping Gage with his daughter during the grueling hockey season, and sparks fly. The tension between these two is jumping off the pages. Of course there are up and downs throughout the books with the ex coming back in the picture, and rehashing both of these characters pasts. You will also meet their group of friends.
I honestly couldn't put this book down. I was completely hooked from the first page. I love this kind of story and Ms. Whiskey does a dang good job at it! - I loved this book! Great story combined with the sport of hockey and dash of art, and lots of love..could not be more perfect.
Gage and Bailey have been friends since they were pre-k. When Gage is in need of a nanny for his daughter Scarlett , his world, his best friend Bailey steps in. Gage trusts his friend with everything but he's been burned before by his baby mamma so there are some speed bumps along the way as Gage and Bailey realize their love for Scarlett isnt the only thing between them.
I look forward to reading more about the Shark boys, Gages teammates, and hopefully Baileys saucy two bffs!
